Move. with. Ease.

ONLY WITH AWARENESS CAN WE START CHANGING PATTERNS

“Where you think it is, it ain’t” - Dr Ida P. Rolf

Chronic and acute pain both can cause us mental and physical stress. At Holistia, we want to help you get to the cause of your pain problems. We don’t want to just treat your “sore area” and send you out the door, we want to work with you to find out where the pain is coming from - because in many cases the cause may not actually be where the “sore area” is. This means that during treatment we may also focus on an area that is different to where you are experiencing pain or tension.

During your initial appointment, our therapists will take a client health history and notes regarding your injury or problem, and then perform movement or postural assessments pre and post treatment to ensure the treatment is suitable to your needs. We may also re-assess throughout the treatment, as treatment strategies may change based on the effect of our work.

REMEDIAL MASSAGE

Remedial massage can help to reduce stress levels, improve postural issues, relieve pain from injuries or general muscular tension, and promote a sense of well-being. Treatments consist of a variety of techniques which may include deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, stretching, dry needling, myofascial cupping or kinesiology taping. You may also be prescribed stretching or exercise for home to continue with your treatment plan in between appointments.

STRUCTURAL INTEGRATION

Structural Integration is ideal for those who have chronic pain, reduced movement or mobility through the body, or areas of general tension that create discomfort.  The aim of this work is to bring your awareness to parts of your body that may be held in posture or movement, release these areas using myofascial release combined with your movement (this is a team effort!), and focus your attention on what changes have occurred through the session. Throughout the session we will assess your posture and movement and re-assess as we go. Your participation is key with this therapy - because if you have awareness of what was before, and has changed, then you are more able to take that change out into your the world and continue to integrate the work in your daily life. You may also be given movement cues and suggestions to take home with you to help continue to integrate the changes that occur with each session.

Through this work your body will start to move differently – you may feel a sense of more space, or even just become more aware of parts of your body that you didn’t realize were not moving freely.  You may feel more connected to your body and find new ways to move.   It creates ease of movement, reduces pain, and improves posture.

Structural Integration is available as one-off sessions, as a 3 Series, or as a 12 Series. To find out more about these options and how they may benefit, click here.

Please note this is a “needs based” not a “time based” appointment, and so the session duration will vary based on the needs on the day.

Appointment times vary, allow up to 60-75 minutes $150

ROLL MODEL® METHOD SELF MYOFASCIAL RELEASE

Many of us have seen or heard of people using various myofascial release tools (lacrosse balls, foam rollers etc) to help with muscle tension and pain, but a lot of the focus is around spot treatment or rolling around on a muscle that might feel sore.

These appointments are one-on-one sessions designed to give you your own custom prescription using tools and techniques to use at home.  Whether you are looking to get out of pain, reduce your stress levels or wind down at night-time, these techniques combined with the Roll Model® Massage Therapy Balls will help you achieve your health goals, in a way that is specific to your circumstances.

These sessions may include a custom sequence to support changes to your movement patterns or posture, specific areas to work on pre workout to help with activation of “sleepy” muscles, or specific techniques to support your sports, work, home life or training regimen.

This therapy is also hugely beneficial to complement your current remedial massage or structural integration treatment, allowing you to be more proactive in between appointments in continuing to change or maintain the work done in the clinic.

The sessions are offered as standalone appointments regardless of whether you’re already a current client, or as an add-on to your remedial massage or structural integration session.
